Services Fall Short of Promises
Despite Shemmassian having an impressive website, the actual services dont live up to the described quality. The MCAT tutor failed to use the provided whiteboard for screen sharing and insisted my daughter only study from the textbookcontrary to the websites claim that this approach hinders MCAT performance. He couldnt effectively answer her questions and merely had her repeat textbook information back to him, even laughing at her and making her feel inadequate. Thankfully, after my daughter reached out, she was assigned a much more competent tutor. The college advisor was unhelpful in creating the list of schools my daughter applied to. She simply reviewed the existing list, advised making a spreadsheet, suggested a few irrelevant changes (like adding a school already included and some state universities with low out-of-state acceptance rates), and concluded the list was acceptable without understanding my daughters connections.Furthermore, the advisor didnt assist in pre-writing secondary essays, which the site emphasizes as crucial for preparation. It wasnt until late May that she was instructed to start addressing common prompts, leading to a frantic last-minute effort to complete all secondaries. Although this advisor was eventually replaced, initial complaints were ignored with assurances that everything was fine. The new advisor later mentioned he would have recommended applying to different schools. Additionally, during interview preparation, there was confusion between a DO program in Oklahoma and an MD program in Florida. Overall, it appears that customer attention and care are significantly lacking.
