Holy cow, the college application journey is completely different now compared to when my husband and I went through it! Back then, we navigated a pre-internet world with a much simpler application process.When we set out to find a college counselor, our aim was to discover experts who could simplify this intricate system for our daughter. It wasnt about finding the top school, but rather the best fit for her.Our daughter was determined to attend college but wasnt sure what she wanted to study beyond wanting to avoid math and science. The college process is already overwhelming, especially for a student without a clear academic direction.After exploring a few programs, we chose Collegewiseand we couldnt be more satisfied. Their method and procedures were both logical and deeply knowledgeable. I really appreciated how our counselor, Laura, communicated with, listened to, and genuinely got to know our daughter.Laura kept things moving forward and streamlined the path for us. The regular updates assured us that everything was on track, allowing me to simply be a mom without stressing over deadlines or the endless list of shoulds that come with high school years. I thoroughly enjoyed my role in organizing college visits, knowing we were only going to places that made sense.By the time senior year began, we had a well-organized and strategically selected list of colleges for our daughter to apply to. Included was a college we had never heard ofthanks to Lauras recommendationwhich ultimately became her choice. She received several acceptances, but Lauras suggestion was the perfect match for her. After one semester, shes thriving, and I cant imagine her anywhere else.The investment we made in Collegewise was absolutely worth it. Our daughters high school didnt offer any post-graduation support, so it would have been up to us to handle everything alone. Im grateful we could remain just mom and dad instead of turning into coaches, teachers, or counselors.
