Coming from a quaint town in the Deep South, we felt quite uneasy when our eldest son was entering his rising sophomore year at his small school. The prospect of college applications felt daunting, overwhelmingly vast and perplexing. As physician parents, we attempted to encourage him to attend a college prep boarding school in a nearby city.
