My daughter received acceptance letters from 9 out of 10 colleges she applied to, including her dream school, Stanford, where she’ll begin her studies this fall (2021). We chose Solomon because her current large public school had dedicated but overwhelmed guidance counselors. We partnered with Cathleen Sheils, who was absolutely outstanding; she deserves a perfect 10. Starting our journey with Cathleen in my daughters freshman year of high school turned out to be the best choice. Why start so early? We realized that the college application process is a long journey focused on building a strong resume. Cathleen helped us identify which classes, extracurriculars, and summer activities would best enhance her college applications. For example, my daughter was very interested in a prestigious research program during her sophomore summer. My husband and I were initially hesitant to approve her participation until we understood its value for her college prospects. With Cathleens recommendation, she applied and got accepted. In her Stanford acceptance letter, the admissions officer specifically mentioned her research experience. Additionally, my daughter wrote all her essays herself, with Cathleen providing valuable feedback. This was particularly important to us given the recent college application scandals.
