Valuable Support, Yet More Personalized Interaction Desired

Solomon Admissions Consulting dedicates considerable time to assisting students with their college applications, particularly through essay guidance. However, I wish my counselor had a deeper personal understanding of me to better steer the direction of my essays. It would have been beneficial to collaboratively edit sections of the essays to ensure they truly reflected my voice and to help me learn how to implement constructive feedback independently. There were times I disagreed with certain edits and couldn’t fully embrace them because I didn’t completely understand the reasoning behind the changes, making a discussion helpful. While we did have occasional calls for my questions, I found it challenging to remember my earlier thoughts (perhaps it’s just me). Given the investment, I would have appreciated more one-on-one time. On the positive side, having the counselors individually edit the essays and send them back for my review definitely reduced my time and stress. I am thankful for their help in reducing my word count and making my essay more cohesive.
