I especially appreciated the tailored college list and ED/EA planning, meticulous project management, personalized feedback from our advisor, the supplemental essay teams input, and the practice sessions. Additionally, we benefited from conversations with current students and former admissions officers from various schools on our list, as well as access to test preparation resources. Starting in junior spring is ideal, allowing ample time to handle a lengthy and ED/EA-focused college list with substantial summer efforts. The provided Google Meet link didn't work, and there was no attempt to switch to Zoom. I enrolled in this program for my daughter, who is applying to college for the first time, and I was completely lost on where to begin. In the end, she had to handle nearly all the tasks on her own. The assigned advisor was hardly available and failed to meet deadlines consistently. When we sought a refund, the company refused. We invested a significant amount of money, only for my daughter to manage everything independently. She spent countless hours trying to navigate college websites, fill out applications, and search for scholarshipstasks that should have been supported by the advisor. I cannot recommend this service.**Edit:** I noticed the college advisor responded, so Id like to address their points:- **Guidance during the transition from high school in New York to Nevada** My daughter was already residing in Las Vegas when she joined. Her transition support was nonexistent as she had to research graduation requirements on her own.- **Creation of a detailed application timeline** They provided a few generic dates over several months, forcing my daughter to supplement with college-specific deadlines.- **Development of a tailored list of colleges** Despite my daughter expressing a desire to attend art school, the advisor only suggested community colleges. I first discovered CollegeAdvisor through a college search platform. My initial interaction with an information assistant was positive, which led me to proceed with their free consultation. Unfortunately, the representative acted more like a salesperson, making me feel that I was doing everything wrong and that CollegeAdvisor was essential for my success. She pressured both my father and me into accepting a one-time offer, which ultimately depleted our savings with recurring charges.I lost contact with my first counselor, who had been genuinely helpful and contradicted the negative claims of the other representative. By the time I was assigned a new counselor, I no longer wanted or needed their assistance. One of my summer programs provided a free college counselor, and there are other free resources available if you prefer not to spend a fortune on an ineffective and costly service.Despite my wish to discontinue with CollegeAdvisor, they wouldn't let me. My second counselor was kind, but she scheduled sessions unpredictably. I attempted to reach out multiple times to cancel sessions but received no response, forcing me to keep my schedule open only to have her not show up repeatedly. When she did attend sessions, the information was minimal and less effective compared to free resources. As my crucial deadlines approached, I decided to use my remaining funds for her help, but she neither responded nor attended.CollegeAdvisor should lower their prices to better match the quality of their services instead of pressuring clients and making them believe they won't succeed without their help. Whether your goal is profit or support, your primary mission should be to assist students in reaching their goals, not wasting their time and money.

I'm disappointed to share that I cannot recommend CollegeAdvisors to anyone! They lack sufficient knowledge about colleges and are unclear on distinctions like early decision versus restricted early action or early action versus regular decision. They didn't follow up with students in a timely manner and were consistently late to meetings. When I requested more sophisticated vocabulary for a word, they couldn't provide better alternatives. Within a year, my son's advisors were changed three times, and the advisors simply disappeared without any notice! Overall, it was a terrible experience!

I came across CollegeAdvisors.com and had an intriguing initial phone call. It seemed promising as a way to equip our child with valuable information and strategies to enhance their chances of getting into colleges that offer the most support, rather than becoming just another applicant.I decided to enroll and ended up spending a significant amount of money. In hindsight, I wish I had invested that money in SAT preparation instead. Even though some schools have made SAT and ACT scores optional, achieving high scores can still unlock more scholarships and financial aid. For parents looking to maximize their child's opportunities, investing in SAT prep might be a better choice.My experience with College Advisors was frustrating, as I was constantly shuffled between different advisors who were supposed to assist us. Despite paying for numerous one-on-one sessions, we ended up having fewer than five meetings, some lasting only 15 minutes. One advisor offered some essay advice, but that was the extent of the help. Most meetings were vague, with promises to follow up that never materialized because advisors would leave or reschedule. This back-and-forth continued until we eventually gave up on getting the support we paid for.At the start, I was irritated by an advisor who seemed preachy and gave the impression that they could secure college placements if our child put in the effort. However, after paying for the service, his attitude changed, becoming snarky and less accommodating.Overall, it was a waste of money. The idea that you need to include specific keywords in essays feels misleading. I spoke with five individuals who successfully managed the college application process on their own, and they all recommended creating a strong resume, maintaining good grades, writing a compelling essay that showcases the student's potential, taking AP classes throughout high school, and applying for scholarships. They assured me that if a school is overly selective, our child might not benefit fully from it anyway. Unfortunately, CollegeAdvisors proved to be a rip-off, failing to deliver on their promises and not taking responsibility for the lack of support despite the hefty fees.Ironically, I reached out at the end of the school year to express how little progress we had made and how we were stuck in a cycle of being assigned different advisors without any lasting support. Their response was to offer a subscription to a magazine or online service, which was more of a joke than a solution. In the end, I ended up spending several thousand dollars on a sales pitch that didnt deliver.
